Tunnels Discovered, Asbestos Removal at VA campus

Progress continues at the VA campus in Knoxville as buildings continue to be demolished. As of the latest update, Marion County Facilities & Maintenance Director Chris Nesteby said that previously unknown tunnels had been discovered, and that asbestos removal was underway. He also continues to stress that no one should be entering the campus without permission, and that fines for trespassing will be enforced.

Area High School Dancers Competing at State

Several area high school and collegiate dancers will be competing at the Iowa Dance and Drill Team Association state event this week at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines. Pella Forte is coming off of one of the most successful seasons in school history, which included a State Championship Military performance for the 2nd consecutive year in 2020. Seniors Madison Smith and Bailey Knouse are excited to showcase their performances this year. Forte members will be joined by high school dancers from Knoxville, PCM, Pella Christian, and Twin Cedars, as well as collegiate competitors from Central. Pella Christian Shine Sophomore Abby Dart is excited to come together with three different team routines this week and to embrace a more normal celebration.
