White Mills author releases new Christian book

Following the release of his debut publication “Inn’s Side,” author Chuck Carson has released a new Christian book and has a faith-based children’s book on the way. Carson, a retiree of the U.S. Postal Service, released “Inn’s Side” in 2019. The book details the story of a young boy named Lacob who works at the inn that was the fully occupied facility referenced in the gospels of Luke and Matthew when describing the nativity of Jesus Christ. The tale was conceived as a bedtime story for Carson’s grandchildren.

Santa Paws Pet Pictures set for December

Families and their pets are invited to get gussied up for some holiday photos in December through the Friends of Hardin County Animal Shelter’s Santa Paws Pet Pictures. The seasonal photo event with Santa will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 4-5 and Dec. 11-12 at 167 Towne Drive in Elizabethtown. The location is about halfway between Pet Supplies Plus and Kroger.

Local students compete in ACT-SO

The Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics is a yearlong enrichment program designed to encourage high academic, creative and cultural achievement among minority and marginalized high school students. The NAACP ACT-SO provides free workshops throughout the season that culminates into a local competition in April, then national competition in July.

HCP to participate in world wide theater fundraiser

The Hardin County Playhouse will perform a fundraiser Nov. 12-15 to help boost the playhouse’s budget after having to cancel so many shows during the pandemic. The show, “All Together Now,” is an international event created by Music Theatre International, a performance licensing company that gives theaters the rights to perform shows.

History museum provides haunted fun downtown

The Hardin County History Museum came alive, or not quite alive, with the ghosts of the county’s past Saturday night. Ghosts warned of incoming attacks and some that looked like an exhibit moved suddenly to scare those walking through the museum. Some visitors were overheard asking people and mannequins what was real and what was not real as they walked through.
