(FOX 9) - A state representative who often generated headlines for conduct during his first tenure was defeated by a nearly 80-point margin in Tuesday’s primary election. Rep. John Thompson received 11.07% compared to challenger Liz Lee’s 88.93% to be the DFL candidate to represent District 67A in St. Paul come November.

Body of Minnesota Fisherman Recovered from River

Stillwater, MN (KROC-AM News)- Rescue teams recovered the body of a 43-year-old White Bear Lake man from the St. Croix River Monday afternoon. A news release from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to the report of an abandoned boat floating along the Minnesota shoreline north of Stillwater around 9 a.m. Monday. Investigators identified the man through the boat’s registration information and were able to confirm the man went out fishing Sunday night and did not return home.

Four picked for Hastings November City Council ballot

With all precincts reporting, Hastings residents picked the City Council candidates who will appear in the Nov. 8 general election. There were two City Council at-large seats on the ballot, of which there were six candidates in the running. For those council seats, 5,664 residents voted, and Angie Haus, Ian T. St. Paul Regional Water Services lifts Maplewood ‘boil water’ advisory

A “boil water alert” for 1,900 customers inside a 3-square-mile region along the Maplewood/St. Paul boundary has been canceled by St. Paul Regional Water Services. An electrical failure at the Beebe Road pump station in Maplewood prompted the release of the precautionary alert on Monday afternoon. Customers of water were instructed to boil the water for three minutes before using it for drinking, tooth brushing, or dishwashing.

Accused Killer’s State Of Mind At Issue In Apple River Stabbing

(Somerset, WI) — The state of mind of the accused killer in the Apple River stabbing case is at issue. Fifty-two-year-old Prior Lake man Nicolae Miu says he acted in self-defense on July 30th when he stabbed Stillwater teen Isaac Schuman to death and wounded four others. The stabbings happened during a confrontation among tubers on the river. The victims say Miu attacked them first and drew a knife on the unarmed young people. At least two videos taken of the encounter have been turned over to authorities.
