Miles to miss Palmyra Season Opener due to disciplinary action

Palmyra High School announced Wednesday Morning that head football coach Kevin Miles will be serving a one-game leave of absence for a failure of locker room supervision. Miles will be sitting out his team's season opener on August 26th against Hallsville. Tyler Krietemeyer will serve as the team's interim head coach and play caller for that contest.

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) — Dallas is the latest big city in Texas to pass a resolution stating  that police don't have to investigate doctors accused of performing abortions.The resolution was approved unanimously by a council committee on August 2, and passed the full city council by a vote of 12 to 1. The Fund For Nora Receives Gift Of Over $82K

In the Fall of 2019, The Fund for Nora was established at The Keokuk Area Community Foundation to rebuild and help preserve Oakland Cemetery. The Hickey and Azinger Families created the Fund for Nora to rebuild the roads around the burial plot of Nora Azinger, who passed away in 2019. Throughout 2020-2021 several roads at Oakland Cemetery were rebuilt and completed due to contributions to the Fund for Nora. Hickey Contracting and The City of Keokuk have worked together recently to create a plan to improve the entrances and roads throughout the Cemetery and the first phase of that construction was completed in 2021 and early 2022.

Dallas Homeowners Could See the Largest Property Tax in Years

Texas has no income tax but property taxes are usually a complaint from homeowners. This year, Dallas City Council wants to give homeowners a break. A Dallas homeowner with a $410,000 single-family home would have a property tax bill of $2,123 under the new proposal - this is a saving of $79. This 2.75% decrease is the largest decrease in 37 years.
