Thursday’s storms wreak havoc on I-80

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Thursday’s storms made their presence felt along I-80. Campers and semis were no match for the high winds and low visibility. The section of interstate which saw the most impact was from Giltner to York. Nebraska State Patrol responded and was aided by both Hamilton County and York County Sheriff’s Offices.

Alcohol Inspections Held in Hamilton, Merrick Counties

During the afternoon and evening hours of Saturday, May 7, investigators with the Nebraska State Patrol conducted alcohol inspections in Hamilton and Merrick Counties. This project was supported in whole or part by grant #0043 under the Nebraska Department of Transportation – Highway Safety Office. In total, 38 businesses were inspected. Two of those businesses sold alcohol to a minor for a compliance rate of 95%. One of the businesses failed to check the minor’s ID.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s office says a 17 year old boy who suffered a gunshot wound while hunting with friends last weekend in southern Hamilton County has died. The sheriff’s department says on Tuesday 17 year old Caleb Ladehoff of Sutton died at Bryan LGH West in Lincoln. The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting with the assistance of the Nebraska State Patrol.
