Hillsboro, ND — Bertsch Farms east of Hillsboro are inviting everyone to a Movie on the Farm this Wednesday, August 10th, but its more than just an evening of family entertainment, it’s also aimed at being an educational experience. Jon Bertsch of Bertsch Farms says what started as a simple idea to get people onto the farm, quickly expanded into something much bigger.

Ada City Council News & Notes from August 3rd Meeting

Ada, MN — The Ada City Council held their regular monthly meeting this Wednesday night, August 3rd. The meeting was held a day later than usual to make room for National Night Out on Tuesday. At the meeting, the council discussed and approved a land purchase request from the Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home. Ada Mayor John Hintz says they are looking to expand their parking, but would need to purchase a portion of the city cemetery to do so.

City of Halstad Seeking Feedback for Landmark Facility. Halstad, MN — The City of Halstad and the Landmark, formerly the Norman County West High School, are looking for input from community members on how to create and enhance community education and recreational opportunities within the iconic facility. A survey has now been published and Trish Schilling with the City of Halstad says they are looking for thoughts and ideas on how they can provide programs and opportunities that support and build health, knowledge, skills, and character for all ages and stages of life while utilizing cross-generational involvement and community strengths to meet community’s needs.

Hillsboro City Commission Leans Heavy on Budget Discussions During August 1st Meeting

Hillsboro, ND — The Hillsboro City Commission held their first regular monthly meeting on Monday night, August 1st at the Main Street Community Center. Preliminary budget talks took up a majority of the discussion during the meeting as the commission is looking at increasing their mils to 63.17 mils, which would equate to an increase of $55,000 to what is taxed to Hillsboro property owners. While they anticipate costs going up, Hillsboro City Commission President Levi Reese says the main reason for the increase is offset expenses currently be paid for through their electrical fund.

SafeTALK Suicide Alertness Training Coming to Fertile on August 10th. Fertile, MN — Anyone can make a connection and make a difference to help save a life and the City of Fertile wants to make sure community members have the training to help do so. In partnership with Aluma, the HOPE Coalition, and the NW8 Adult Mental Health Initiative, a safeTALK training in suicide alertness skills will be offered on Wednesday, August 10th from 8:30am until 12:30pm at the Fertile Community Center.

Make Halstad Home Plate a Home Run

Halstad, MN — The Halstad Business League’s Make Halstad Home Plate and National Night Out was a home run on Tuesday night at the Halstad Blue Park. Kids enjoyed giant corn hole and a massive inflatable water slide, parents shopped from various vendors, and everyone got to learn more about the services and organizations in the community as well as enjoy a free taco supper. Ada National Night Out

ADA, MN—Ada was one of hundreds of cities across the country that celebrated National Night Out on Tuesday. People had a chance to meet with law enforcement and learn how to protect their identity. Kids were able to handle a fire hose and learn about safety. Lee Ann Hall, secretary-treasurer of the Ada Chamber of Commerce, talks about Tuesday’s turnout.

Missoula Children’s Theatre Presents Johnny Appleseed

Ada, MN — The Missoula Children’s Theatre in conjunction with the Ada Summer Children’s Theatre will be presenting their musical production of Johnny Appleseed today at the Ada-Borup-West High School Auditorium. The directors, Emily Horn and Nick Winkler from Missoula Children’s Theatre, joined the KRJB Kaleidoscope Thursday to preview the production. They note that the touring theatre company has been traveling across the globe over the past five decades providing top notch acting, dancing, and singing experience to youth.

The Night to Unite is Tonight

Ada, MN — Tonight is National Night Out, otherwise known as the Night to Unite, which is a night set aside across the US for block parties, community gatherings, and festivals geared at allowing community members the chance at getting to know their local law enforcement and first responders and get rid of some of the stigma’s around police officers, according to Lee Ann Hall of the Ada Chamber of Commerce.

Man hurt after rollover crash in Cass County

(Arthur, ND) -- A Borup, Minnesota man is recovering after a rollover crash in a rural part of Cass County late Saturday afternoon. The Cass County Sheriff's office says the 19-year-old lost control of his vehicle near the intersection of County Road 34 and 160th Avenue Southeast in Arthur around 3:44 p.m. Saturday. The car rolled through a ditch and into a field, catching fire due to the crash.

Borup, MN Man Seriously Injured In Rollover Near Arthur

ARTHUR, N.D. (CCSO) – The Cass County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) responded to vehicle crash at the intersection of County Road 34 and 160th Ave SE in rural Arthur. A 19-year-old male from Borup, Minnesota, lost control of his vehicle, rolling it through the ditch and into a field. The vehicle caught fire after the crash and is a total loss. The male was transported by Hunter Ambulance to Sanford Health, after suffering non-life threatening injuries because of the crash.
