Ducks move up slightly in USA TODAY Coaches poll

As one would figure, the Oregon Ducks football team managed to climb in the USA TODAY Coaches poll after their 44-41 road victory over Washington State. Oregon moved up three spots to No. 15 in the poll that came out Sunday morning. USC moved up a spot to No. 6 after the Trojans’ 14-10 win in Corvallis over Oregon State. Utah also moved up a spot to No. 13 with its win over lowly Arizona State. But it was Washington that took the biggest jump. The Huskies moved up six spots to No. 18. They are quickly becoming a team that no one saw coming. They are 4-0 with a trip to Tempe to take it to the Sun Devils next weekend. Oregon State goals still intact, the Chance Nolan roller coaster: 8 takeaways from Beavers’ 17-14 loss to USC

Rewinding the Oregon State Beavers’ Saturday night’s performance at Reser Stadium, where they lost to No. 7 USC 17-14. Oregon State fans have all week to what-if Saturday night’s loss to the Trojans. There surely are enough situations to chew on. I’ve received plenty of emails and tweets on various subjects. The Beavers, however, had better turn the page by midday Sunday if they want to make something of this season. Outside of a national championship — and who in their right mind ever thought that was a possibility? — everything remains in play, albeit it with a reduced margin of error. Another opportunity is just six days away in Salt Lake City, when OSU plays No. 12 Utah at 11 a.m. (PT).

So, in a game where the over-under was 70 points, how many people thought USC would not score a touchdown in any of the first three quarters? How many people thought USC would produce one touchdown drive of over 26 yards for the whole game? How many people thought USC would hold Oregon State to 14 points? How many people thought USC would fail to score 20 points and still win?

Nix leads No. 15 Oregon over Washington State 44-41

PULLMAN, Wash. — Oregon quarterback Bo Nix was piling up the yardage, but the No. 15 Ducks were not getting into the end zone in the first half against Washington State.
