1 charged in deadly Halifax County shooting; victim identified

ENFIELD, N.C. (WNCN) — One person has been arrested for their suspected role in a deadly Enfield shooting. On Sunday, the Enfield Police department responded to a shooting at Meyer’s Park on Bell Street in Enfield. Police said Orrick Lakei Parker died as a result of the shooting.

ENFIELD, N.C. (WNCN) — One person is in police custody following a shooting Sunday afternoon in Enfield, the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office announced. The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said a shooting took place shortly after 1 p.m. on Bell Street. Deputies said the shooter is in custody.

Halifax County Horse Country

Located in Northeast North Carolina, adjacent to I-95, Halifax County has a lot to offer the horse enthusiast and those traveling with their horses. Medoc Mountain State Park offers approximately 10 miles of bridle trails. These trails provide rolling terrain and follow a portion of beautiful Little Fishing Creek. Bridle trailhead parking is available just off Medoc Mountain Road. All visitors with horses must be able to provide proof of a negative equine infectious anemia (Coggins) test while visiting North Carolina State Parks. Equestrian exclusive camping is also offered at this state park. Five primitive campsites are located along the bridle trail. Each campsite offers a picnic table, tent pad, and fire ring.

Domestic call leads to meth, cocaine trafficking counts

A domestic call of a man following his ex-girlfriend Tuesday ended with his arrest on cocaine and methamphetamine trafficking and other drug counts. Dominic Battle, 29, of Roanoke Rapids, was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession with intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine, trafficking in methamphetamine, trafficking in cocaine, felony possession of marijuana, maintain a dwelling/vehicle for a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, carry a concealed weapon, driving while license revoked, assault with a deadly weapon and possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine. He was also served with two orders for arrest. According to Halifax County Detention center records Battle has two holds on him out of Guilford County.

County, Roseburg strike amended incentive agreement

Halifax County commissioners Monday approved an amendment to the economic incentive grant agreement it struck with Roseburg South Lumber.
