Man charged in Duluth hit-and-run that killed 60-year-old

A week after a man was accused in a fatal Gwinnett County hit-and-run, his charges were upgraded Monday after the victim died in the hospital, police said. Davendra Gautam, 59, was arrested hours after the May 5 crash and originally charged with hit-and-run resulting in serious injury and serious injury by vehicle. He is now charged with vehicular homicide and hit-and-run.

Gwinnett County man on the run for a year now in jail for murder

A man accused of a Gwinnett County murder is now in custody after being on the run for over a year. On Monday the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Deavian Jasiri-Teeir Netters. Netters is one of four people involved in a deadly shooting at a Lawrenceville hookah lounge last year.

Two Gwinnett County men killed in Covington plane crash identified

COVINGTON — Two men who were killed when a private plane crashed near the General Mills plant on April 21 have been identified. According to the Covington Police Department, Edward Rodriguez, a 33-year-old Lawrenceville man, and Sergio Gill, 49, a private pilot and flight instructor from Snellville, died in the crash and ensuing explosion and fire shortly after taking off from Covington Municipal Airport on Ga. Highway 142. The CPD said it is not known who was actually flying the plane at the time of the crash.

Calboy Surrenders to Police After Allegedly Breaking a Man’s Leg

Calboy is in police custody in Georgia after a warrant was issued for his arrest last week. On Tuesday (May 17), Calboy, born Calvin Lashon Woods, was taken into custody by the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office in Gwinnett County, Ga. The Chicago rapper was booked at 8:27 a.m. local time, according to police records obtained by XXL. As of press time, he has not been given a bond. He has officially been charged with aggravated battery.

Man arrested for Gwinnett County hookah lounge murder

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - After a year on the run, a SWAT team has taken a man into custody for a homicide at a Gwinnett County hookah lounge, the sheriff’s office said. Deavian Jasiri-Teeir Netters was charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Getting to Know: Seckinger boys basketball coach Nate Hamilton

Brookwood grad Nate Hamilton is the new head boys basketball coach at Seckinger, Gwinnett’s newest high school opening in August. Hamilton has spent eight of his nine years coaching in Gwinnett, beginning with two years as a community coach at Brookwood. He coached two seasons at Archer and four at Buford under Eddie Martin, a tenure that included a 2019 state championship. He joined Lambert as an assistant coach for the 2021-22 season. He played at Georgia College and was an all-county player at Brookwood, where he broke the school record for 3-pointers in a game.

Graduation ceremonies planned for seniors at area high schools

The end of the 2021-2022 school year is approaching, and area schools are set to hold graduation ceremonies for seniors completing their final year of high school. Seniors at high schools within Gwinnett County Public Schools will celebrate graduation with ceremonies at the end of May. Lanier High School seniors will graduate at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, at Gas South Arena, 6400 Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
