Girl 'so upset' after man would not stop Portage molestation, police say

VALPARAISO — A young girl told investigators that she was sleeping at a home in Portage when Brian Wadas molested her, according to newly filed charging documents. "Victim then became upset and said 'then he touched me,' while crossing her arms and speaking angrily," a court document state. "Victim went on to say that this hurt, and she stomped her foot."

Victim of serial killer John Wayne Gacy identified as North Carolina man

A North Carolina man who moved to Chicago was one of the victims of John Wayne Gacy, who was convicted of killing 33 young men and boys in the 1970s, authorities said Monday. Francis Wayne Alexander would have been 21 or 22 years old when Gacy killed him sometime between early 1976 and early 1977, Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart said at a news conference announcing the identification of Alexander's remains.

Pedestrian Struck and Killed On I-57

File- (AP Photo/Seth Perlman, File) One man is dead after he was struck by a vehicle on Interstate 57 near Peotone on Sunday evening. Illinois State Police responded to southbound I-57 just after 7:15 Sunday evening to a report of a disabled vehicle around Mile Post 326. When troopers arrived on the scene, they found 50-year-old Earl Rice Jr. was struck by a vehicle in the left lane of oncoming traffic, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Crews had the interstate shut down for about two-and-a-half hours for investigation. No word on what vehicle struck Mr. Rice Jr. and the investigation is ongoing.
