Halley appointed county’s newest special judge

Canadian County District Judges Paul Hesse and Jack McCurdy, as well as District Judge-Elect Khristan Strubhar, have announced that El Reno attorney David Halley will be the county’s next special judge. Halley will take the place of Strubhar, who will assume the mantle of district judge after McCurdy retires.

SWOSU Secures Another Shutout as Rabo Chases History

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU soccer shutout Harding 2-0 at the SWOSU Athletic Complex today, with both goals being scored by Alimata Rabo. Rabo was the offense for the Dawgs today, scoring the only points of the game. Her first goal was impressive. She took the ball from the defender at around midfield and outran the remaining Bison defenders to score the first goal of the game. She would score an 89' goal to make sure that SWOSU would secure the victory. These two goals put her at 76 career goals. That is currently number two in SWOSU history. She is also second in career points scored, with 182. She is just behind Sandra Nabweteme in both categories. Nabweteme has 191 career points and 78 career goals. If Rabo can recreate games like this, she will clear both records and become the greatest scorer in SWOSU soccer history.

The Weatherford Eagles were no match for the Chick on Friday, with the final score being 42-28. Malek Murphy continues to tear through every defense rushing for 200 yards. Trevor Caveness on the defensive side of things had 9 tackles and one sack. Tyrese Gonzalez stepped up big with 100 receiving yards and 1 touchdown. Logan Palesano had this to say about the critics saying they would be a 2-8 team this year and how proving them wrong feels, “It feels amazing for us as a team in my opinion being the underdogs and coming out on top is amazing, we’re taking that hear say “2-8” mentality to fuel us at practice and games I feel like us as a team don’t care what others think, we do it for us, and our community and family.” The Chicks face off against John Marshall next week.
