Green Bay Facing Three Options for Porlier Pier

GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Replacing the deteriorating Porlier Pier with a similar structure would cost $1.6 million, according to a new report. The pier is at the base of Porlier Street, where it turns into Adams Street. It is adjacent to the Fox River Trail, on the east bank of the river. Most of the original railroad bridge, built in about 1900, was removed, and the current pedestrian pier was installed in 2005.

Green Bay Metro Fire Department has First Red Light on Holiday Wreath

GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — The Green Bay Metro Fire Department now has one red bulb on their holiday wreath. The department was dispatched to a structure fire in a garage on the east side at about 12:50 p.m. on Tuesday. The fire was caused due to improper disposal of smoking materials, and was quickly extinguished. Cost of damages was $100.

– Two Green Bay businesses were recipients of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) 2022 Wisconsin Recycling Excellence Awards. The winners were announced on Nov. 15 — America Recycles Day — and are ranked at the top of a list of nonprofits, schools and local governments who demonstrate the state’s “strong commitment to waste reduction and recycling through their projects and initiatives, overall program, innovation or special events,” according to the DNR.

GFL receives green light for landfill expansion in Wisconsin

The Eau Claire City Council in Wisconsin has granted a long-awaited green light for the expansion of the Seven Mile Creek Landfill in the town of Seymour. In the newly approved agreement, Vaughn, Canada-based GFL Environmental Inc.—owner and operator of the landfill—plans to increase the height of the landfill by 33 feet.

Pulaski area bonfire victim is making progress on this Thanksgiving Day

(WLUK) -- One of the most severely burned victims in a Shawano County bonfire explosion six weeks ago is sharing the progress he is making this Thanksgiving. Brandon Brzeczkowski's family has been sharing updates with us throughout his recovery. Eau Claire, WI City Council Approves 2023 Budget, Seven Mile Creek Landfill Expansion

After four years of negotiations, the Eau Claire City Council gave the final green light on an expansion of the Seven Mile Creek Landfill in the Town of Seymour. The originally proposed expansion faced heavy opposition from the landfill’s neighbors, who said the sight and smell of the landfill was already too much to handle. In the newly approved agreement, GFL plans to increase the height of the landfill by 33 feet, which City Attorney Steve Nick called “substantial”.
