At the time, the school was playing eight-man football, but dwindling interest in trying out for football forced a remarkable seven forfeits throughout a nine-game schedule. In the two games they were able to play, they lost 44-0 against Rawlins County and 68-20 against Cheylin.

A Tribune man was killed, and an infant seriously injured early Monday morning when the car they were riding in ran off K-96 in Greeley County and overturned. The Kansas Highway Patrol reported Arrianna Patterson, 20, of Tribune, was driving a 2011 Kia Rio westbound on K-96 about 5 a.m. when the vehicle went across the highway and into the left ditch near County Road 24. It struck a culvert and overturned, then rolled an unknown number of times before coming to rest on its top.

A 43-year-old Tribune man is dead after a crash early Monday morning on Kansas Highway 96 in Greeley County. Authorities say Derek Longsine was a passenger in a 2011 Kia Rio that went left of center as it was westbound on the highway and drove off the road into a ditch around 5 a.m. The Kia “collided with a culvert and overturned, rolling an unknown number of times before coming to a rest on its top,” according to a Kansas Highway Patrol crash report.

Family’s crop harvested by friends, neighbors after accident

You could hear lots of things in Sharon Vogt’s voice after her sorghum crop was safely out of the field in rural Greeley County, Kansas. Relief, grief, and happiness. Vogt’s husband, Mike, passed away in a car accident Sept. 29. Members of the community, family and friends all pitched in recently to harvest the Vogts' crop. Friends helped finish up their harvest Oct. 26.
