Man charged with arson in Grant County blaze that injured firefighter

GRANT COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — A man has been charged with arson in connection with a blaze that injured a firefighter in Grant County. Christopher Thomas Burns, 36, is accused of setting fire to a trailer home on his property just outside the Petersburg city limits on May 31, according to the West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s Office. A member of the Petersburg Fire Department was injured while battling the blaze.

Mount Storm Lake boat ramp and parking area to temporarily close for construction

ROMNEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) — Mount Storm Lake’s boat ramp and parking area will be closed from June 1 through Aug. 29 due to significant improvements to the Grant County lake, the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources announced. The work includes installation of a permanent concrete ramp, a courtesy dock, a paved handicap access parking area and walkway to the ramp, reconstruction of storm drains and recontouring and basing of the parking lot.
