HIGHLAND, Kan. Michael Edward Batchelder, 71, of Highland, Kansas, peacefully passed away Sept 22, 2021. Mike was born April 19. 1950, in St. Joseph, Missouri, the oldest of three children of John and Dorothy (Cole) Batchelder and was a lifelong Doniphan County resident where he attended Highland Schools, later graduated from Highland High School with the class of 1969.

MARYVILLE, Mo. — With seconds until the break, Rich Wright went to grab a cup of lemon lime Gatorade, but he knew he couldn’t miss what was about to happen on the field. “Someone looked at me and said, ‘Coach, this is the last play of the half,’” Northwest Missouri State head coach Rich Wright said. “I said, ‘I’ve seen more Northwest Missouri State games where I’ve seen a play at the end of the half.’ And sure enough, there was a play at the end of the half.”

Rock Port accident injures 1

(Rock Port) -- A South Dakota woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident in Atchison County late Thursday afternoon. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred on U.S. Highway 136 in Rock Port, near the Interstate 29 entrance and exit. Authorities say a 2017 Toyota Corolla driven by 71-year-old Rita Sutton of Kadoka, South Dakota failed to yield as it was turning east onto 136, and struck a 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup driven by 26-year-old Bryce Roecker of Fairfax. Sutton's vehicle came to rest in the intersection with its wheels facing northeast, while Roecker's pickup came to a controlled stop off the roadway.
