North Platte plasters Plattsburg in historical night

The Panthers have been waiting a long time to get back to relevancy and the North Platte football team (3-2) continues to make strides in the right direction. Coming into the fall with zero wins in each of the last two seasons and only three wins in the year prior to that, North Platte is putting a historical number of tallies in the win column. Join Weston Bend State Park team members from 11 am to 2 pm, Saturday, October 1, as they keep the tobacco and apple cider traditions alive. Visitors can go on a guided tour of the tobacco barn, hear the history of agriculture in the Weston area and see where and how tobacco was treated after it left the field. Then, they can stop by a vintage cider press demonstration to see how apple cider was made on the farm at the turn of the century.

'It was scary': Shot fired inside Buffalo Wild Wings on Sunday

The quick action of employees after a gun was fired inside St. Joseph’s Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant Sunday night is being praised by customers and police. Police were called to the restaurant, located at 5403 N. Belt Highway, in regards to a potential active shooter call early Sunday evening. A gunshot was heard in the restaurant, coming from the restroom, but it came across as a different sound to employees and customers.

Eagles end Bulldogs' streak in sweep

Bishop Leblond girls volleyball swept the East Buchanan Bulldogs 3-0 on Monday night at Bishop Leblond High School. LeBlond jumped out to an early lead in the first set before East Buchanan mounted a comeback that ultimately fell short as the Eagles took it 25-23. The competitiveness continued into the second set before LeBlond ended up pulling away late to win 25-20. And in the third, LeBlond dominated to seal the win with a 25-17 victory.

Man suffers life-threatening injuries in crash, DUI suspect in custody

CLAY COUNTY, Mo. (KCTV) - A man suffered life-threatening injuries after he was involved in a car crash Sunday evening near Smithville Lake. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office reported a 34-year-old man was driving his Harley Davidson about 7:40 p.m. on Litton Way near DD Highway when the collision with a Chevrolet Cruze occurred.

Troopers Arrest Two In Area Counties

Two arrests are reported by the Missouri Highway Patrol for the weekend. Friday at about 2:45 pm in Daviess County, Troopers arrested 48-year-old DuvalMetri L Brown of Des Moines, IA on several charges or warrants, including alleged resisting arrest, following too close, speeding, no turn signal, failure to yield, no valid license, assault on law enforcement, a Harrison County warrant for alleged speeding and a Clinton County warrant for speeding – no insurance – no valid license. He was taken to the Daviess Dekalb Regional Jail.

Washington Street Walkway closed as Kearney building bows

KEARNEY — What has become a destination photo backdrop of public art in Kearney, the Washington Street Walkway, is partially at risk and the area has become a safety concern as a brick wall of the historic building at 117 E. Washington St. is bowing out. The walkway has been closed out of precaution.

Holt Man Arrested On Numerous Warrants in Jackson County

A Holt man was arrested Saturday in Jackson County on multiple warrants and a new felony drug charge. Troop A of the Highway Patrol reports the arrest of 30-year-old Holt resident Jacob L. Lantz at 9:07 A.M. Saturday for felony possession of a controlled substance. He was also found to be wanted on a Clinton County felony warrant for dangerous drugs, and six misdemeanor warrants out of Clay County.

Motorcyclist in "very critical" condition after wreck near the Smithville Dam

SMITHVILLE, Mo. — Authorities with the Clay County Sheriff's Office continue to investigate a crash that left a motorcyclist with critical injuries Sunday night. According to a release from a department spokesperson, deputies were dispatched to Litton Way near DD Highway, next to Smithville Lake and near the Smithville Dam, to investigate a crash around 7:40 p.m. Sunday.

Two motorcycles crash on I-435, one driver killed

Two motorcycles that authorities say were traveling together crashed on Saturday night on Interstate 435 in Platte County, resulting in the death of one of the drivers. The crash occurred about 7:22 p.m. on Saturday on northbound I-435 just south of Hwy. 45, near mile marker 22. The initial scene resulted in another crash about a minute later when a tractor-trailer struck a Chevrolet Suburban that had slowed for traffic.
