Two men shot, one killed early Sunday in Montgomery

Montgomery police say they've opened a homicide investigation after a man was shot dead and another was seriously injured in an overnight shooting. Police were called to the 1700 block of Pine Street at about 2:12 a.m. Sunday after getting a report of shooting. They found Reginald Woods, 23, of Montgomery with a life-threatening gunshot wound. Woods was later pronounced dead, MPD said.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - An overnight double shooting in Montgomery has left one person dead and another injured. According to Montgomery Police Captain Jarrett Williams, authorities responded to the 1700 block of Pine Street around 2:15 a.m. Sunday after receiving a report of two subjects shot. There, officers found 23-year-old Reginald Woods and another adult male with life-threatening gunshot wounds. Woods was later pronounced dead.

Montgomery man gets life sentence in 2020 murder

Anthony Stoddard has been sentenced to life in prison in the 2020 murder of Tametrius Richards, Montgomery County District Attorney Daryl Bailey announced this week. Richards was on a date with Stoddard's ex-girlfriend on Jan. 17, 2020, when Stoddard pulled a gun and started shooting an unarmed and fleeing Richards, according to a release from Bailey's office. Richards was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. U.S. Marshals arrested Stoddard on Feb. 6 after a manhunt.

Billingsley gets back in win column on homecoming

Alabama State scored 10 points in the fourth quarter relied on its defense to seal the game as TSU dropped a heartbreaking 16-13 contest Saturday inside PNC Stadium.
