Five takeaways from Chandler's comeback win over defending state champion Saguaro

Scottsdale Saguaro jumped out to a 14-0 lead Friday night, before Dylan Raiola, the nation's No. 1 2024 high school football prospect, hit Jaxon Branch with a deep TD pass. That started a 31-0 Chandler run. OPINION: Students should not stand for white supremacy

An illustration of students protesting against racism by Mary Ann Vagnerova. Jared Taylor headlined a speaking event hosted by College Republicans United at Arizona State University Sept. 2. Taylor is the founder of The New Century Foundation, which is most notably known for the American Renaissance – an online opinions journal that has continuously made arguments in support of white nationalism and white superiority. His presence on campus is appalling and should be condemned by ASU. Yet, unfortunately, it was allowed. Since ASU took no action in stopping this event, it should at the very least prompt them to take urgent action in creating a more inclusive campus.

Late Friday night, long after Desert Mountain thought it had an easy rivalry win secured, Chaparral offered one final rebuttal. The Firebirds quarterback, Miles Vandenheuvel, rolled out right, set his feet just inside the 50-yard line and uncorked a prayer. With it carried the hopes of the most improbable comeback of the season in Arizona high school football.

Zone Read: Saguaro-Chandler 3.0

It gets no bigger than Saguaro-Chandler Friday night at Austin Field. I don’t feel “marquee matchup” is strong enough to describe, considered by most, the two flagship programs in Arizona High School football. With the backdrop of last year’s Open Division Championship thriller in December, these two giants will face off with all eyes watching this 10-month sequel intently.
