A strong thunderstorm will impact portions of central Goliad County through 8:15 pm CST. At 7:42 pm CST, doppler radar was tracking an area of thunderstorms 7 miles south of Weesatche, or 7 miles northwest of Goliad. The hazards were winds in excess of 30 mph and half inch (maximum hail = 0.50”) hail that were indicated on radar. The impacts are gusty winds (maximum wind gusts = 30 mph) that could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Plus, minor damage to outdoor objects is possible.

Milledean Kolinek Albrecht

Milledean Kolinek Albrecht, 88, of Goliad, passed peacefully from this earth, Thursday, July 28, 2022. She was born August 7th, 1933, in Kenedy, Texas to the late Marvin F., Sr. and Clara Wilma Carpenter Kolinek. She graduated from Kenedy High School. She participated in the pep squad, basketball, and tennis. Her junior year, she was voted most popular and FFA Sweetheart. Milledean’s senior year she was voted Class Favorite and Class Treasurer. After high school, she worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.

Goliad County Library Project Cool

With the community’s help, the Goliad County Library would like to provide as many residents as possible, without air conditioning or circulating air, a new 20-inch box fan. They are asking anyone who can to donate a new 20-inch electric box fan (cost between $25-$35) to help provide some relief to those in need. Donations may be dropped off at the library at 320 S. Commercial St. during normal business hours. Or a box fan may be purchased online and delivered to the above mentioned address.
