MAN HOSPITALIZED FOLLOWING MOTORCYCLE CRASH

A Camas Valley man was hospitalized following a motorcycle crash Thursday morning. A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 6:00 a.m., the 22-year old was traveling south on Old Highway 99 S near Dole Road in the Myrtle Creek area. The operator said a pickup started going into his lane, which caused him to panic and lock up his rear tire. The man said the motorcycle began fishtailing and he throttled it which spun him around and into an approximately six-foot ditch.

Police: illegal grow turned up over 1000lbs of marijuana and magic mushrooms

ROGUE RIVER, Ore. – Police teams in Southern Oregon are continuing to crack down on black market marijuana grows. Illegal Marijuana Enforcement Team (IMET) detectives along with Jackson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) deputies served a search warrant on a marijuana grow site on the 10500 block of West Evans Creek Road in Rogue River early Thursday morning.

CANYONVILLE MAN JAILED AFTER FOOT PURSUIT IN CREEK

A Canyonville man was jailed after a foot pursuit in a creek Thursday afternoon. A report from the Myrtle Creek Police said at 4:00 p.m. the 30-year old was arrested after he attempted to elude an officer while on a bike and then tried to run into a creek. The officer was able to take the suspect into custody after a short time.

ELECTION FILING PERIOD OPEN WEDNESDAY

The election filing period for positions with the City of Myrtle Creek begins on Wednesday. Two positions on the city council are due to expire at the end of the year, and will be voted on in the November General Election. These are position #2 and position #4, now held by Angie Cross and Kathi Otero, respectively. Also set to expire is the term for the office of Mayor, now held by Matthew Hald. New terms will run through the end of 2026.

RIDDLE MAN JAILED FOR ALLEGED ASSAULT

A Riddle man was jailed following an alleged assault incident Wednesday evening. A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 7:00 p.m. deputies responded to the 900 block of Hill Street in the Myrtle Creek area. An investigation determined there was probable cause to arrest the 32-year old. He was charged with fourth-degree assault and held without bail.

MUSIC IN THE PARK RESUMES THURSDAY NIGHT

Music in the Park resumes in Myrtle Creek Thursday night, after taking a break for last week’s Myrtle Creek Summer Festival. South coast based classic rock group The Endeavors will be featured beginning at 6:00 p.m. Performances are at Millsite Park and take place through August 25th. Wards Creek Fire 100% lined

ROGUE RIVER, Ore. -- Excellent progress was made overnight on the Wards Creek Fire and according to the Oregon Department of Forestry, the fire is now 100% lined. The 17-acre lightning fire is located in the hills above the 3100-block of Wards Creek Road east of Rogue River. The fire is burning on both Bureau of Land Management and private land.
