Male Arrested Pushing a Stolen ATV Along Glenoaks Blvd

Glendale, CA – On June 9th, 2021, at approximately 10:23 a.m., a Glendale Patrol Officer was driving in the area of Glenoaks Blvd and Highland Ave when they observed a male, later identified as 34-year-old Devonte Brooks (transient), pushing a 4-wheel “quad” ATV eastbound on the south sidewalk of Glenoaks Blvd.

Pair Arrested for Vehicle Theft and Identity Theft

Glendale, CA – On June 8th, 2021, at approximately 4:00 p.m., a Glendale K-9 Officer was on patrol and located an occupied stolen vehicle that had been taken during a robbery driving in the area of Central Ave and Palmer Ave. Multiple officers responded to assist and the vehicle was stopped. Both occupants of the vehicle, 23-year-old Destiny Garcia and 26-year-old Moses Sanchez of Los Angeles, were detained.

Officers Perform Life-Saving Measures on Baby

Glendale, CA – On 06/13/2021, at approximately 9:20 a.m., Glendale Police Officers responded to an unknown problem at a residence on the 200 block of N Verdugo Rd. The call taker could hear a female frantically screaming in the background. Upon arrival on scene, officers found a baby unconscious, not breathing and without a pulse.

Male Arrested for Shooting into an Inhabited Building

Glendale, CA – On May 22, 2021 just before 5 p.m., Glendale Police Officers responded to the Glendale Market Place parking structure on the 100 block of S Artsakh Ave regarding possible “shots fired”. On arrival, officers determined multiple rounds had been fired at an adjacent occupied structure, however, no one had been struck. Officers canvased the area and located several spent shell casings along with a discarded handgun.

Pair Arrested for Possession of a Firearm, Illegal Drugs, Fraud and Vehicle Theft

Glendale, CA – On June 3rd, 2021, at approximately 12:45 p.m., officers located an occupied stolen vehicle driving in the area of Los Feliz Ave and Gardena Ave. The vehicle was stopped and the two occupants, 37-year-old Roberto Luis and 42-year-old Nina Maynard of Glendale, were detained. Both Roberto and Nina told officers they were currently on Post Release Community Supervision.

High Temperatures Expected

GLENDALE, California – The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for Southern California starting Tuesday, June 15th through Friday, June 18th, with warning of “dangerously hot” triple-digit conditions. Glendale Water & Power (GWP) is encouraging all residents to conserve as much energy as possible, without jeopardizing their health or the health of their pets and loved ones. The most effective ways to reduce power usage are by setting air conditioning thermostats to 78 degrees or higher, and by putting off the use of major appliances until after 9:00 p.m.

Glendale, CA – The Glendale Police Department is aware of the video that captured an incident involving officers during an arrest at the Glendale Galleria Mall on June 5th, 2021. An investigation into the incident, including all actions taken by the officers during the arrest process, was immediately initiated and the officers involved have been placed on administrative leave while the investigation is being conducted.

The City of Glendale is proud to present the Jewel City Sparkles Fireworks Show to mark the grand re-opening of activity in downtown Glendale. The show will take place on the 4th of July 2021 beginning at 9pm in downtown Glendale. City of Glendale Announces 3rd Round of Recovery Grants for Small Businesses

Glendale, CA –To help aid in the recovery of local small businesses, the City of Glendale has awarded over $1.7M to small businesses to date, and has approved the allocation of an additional $175,000 in funding to help more businesses bounce back from the economic impacts of COVID-19. Business owners may apply for $5,000 grants during Round 3 of the Small Business Grant Program. This funding is in addition to the $2.8 million in federal and local assistance that was approved in 2020.

Male Arrested with Loaded Firearm and Illegal Drugs

Glendale, CA – On May 26, 2021, at approximately 9:00 p.m., officers assigned to the Glendale Police Department’s Special Enforcement Detail conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle for an equipment violation in the area of San Fernando Rd and Wilson Ave. Upon contacting the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, identified as 44-year-old Andres Castillo of Los Angeles, officers could see a handgun in plain view on the front passenger side floorboard.

Glendale, CA – On May 25, 2021, just after 7:00 a.m., officers from the Glendale Police Department’s Special Enforcement Detail conducted a probation compliance check of 36-year-old Hmayak Kurazyan at a residence on the 1000 block of Highland Ave. Upon contacting residents at the location, they advised Kurazyan was not home, however; officers located Kurazyan hiding inside of his bedroom. Officers also located methamphetamine, heroin, drug paraphernalia and a set of keys on the ground next to where Kurazyan was hiding.
