‘I’m finna kill you’: Jennings man accused of strangling woman before hitting officer with car

SPANISH LAKE, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- A 38-year-old St. Louis County man was arrested after choking his girlfriend and running over a police officer Sunday night. Officials with the St. Louis County Police Department said the officer responded to a domestic assault around 7 p.m. in the 1000 block of Starshire Court in Spanish Lake. Police said 38-year-old Larry Harris, of Jennings, punched his girlfriend repeatedly in the face after yelling, “B----, I’m finna to kill you.” At one point, Harris allegedly started strangling her until she lost consciousness.

GLEN CARBON - Authorities are attempting to acquire $1,351 from a Bethalto man who possessed 450 grams of illegal marijuana in his car. Police discovered the money and drug after an officer spotted a car weaving back over the white line on the road at Illinois Route 157 and Old Keebler Road. The driver, 23, at first gave the officer a false name but the officer checked the records and found out that the driver was wanted on a Bethalto warrant. The suspect then admitted his correct name. Swansea woman killed after car crashes into concrete pole on I-64

ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ill. (KMOV.com) – A 51-year-old Metro East woman was killed in a crash in St. Clair County. Just 4:30 p.m. Monday, Edith Holmes, 51, of Swansea, Illinois, was driving a Ford Flex on westbound Interstate 64 at mile marker 3.2 when she veered off the roadway. Illinois State Police said she struck a concrete pole of an intersection exit sign. She was pronounced dead when officials arrived.

17-year-old shot multiple times in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS – A 17-year-old boy was shot multiple times Tuesday night in the North Pointe neighborhood of north St. Louis. The shooting happened just before 7 p.m. near Riverview Avenue and Vivian Avenue. The victim was transported to an area hospital with bullet wounds in his abdomen and lower back, according to police.

Missouri ordered to pay more than $1 million in legal fees over voting rights case

JEFFERSON CITY — Missouri’s failure to comply with federal voting laws will cost taxpayers more than $1 million in legal fees. In an opinion issued Monday, the 8th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals affirmed a decision made more than a year ago by U.S. District Judge Brian Wimes to award the cost of attorneys representing the St. Louis and Kansas City chapters of the League of Women Voters and the A. Philip Randolph Institute.
