Kirksville woman charged with murder of infant has trial reset to March 2022 in Harrison County

A jury trial has been reset for a Kirksville woman charged with first and second-degree murder after a child death investigation in May 2020. Twenty-nine-year-old Makuya Stephanie Kambamba appeared in court in Putnam County on September 15th, and her trial is now scheduled to begin in Harrison County on March 1st, 2022. It was previously scheduled to start in Harrison County on October 5th. A pre-trial conference is scheduled in Grundy County on January 13th, 2022.

Two defendants were placed on probation when they pleaded guilty to separate charges on Tuesday in the Associate Division of Grundy County Circuit Court. Trenton resident Taylor Scott Groves pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while intoxicated from July 18. The imposition of sentence was suspended and Judge Steve Hudson placed Groves on two years supervised probation. He’s to pay a recoupment fee of $240, make a $100 donation to the Grundy County Law Enforcement Restitution Fund and pay the court costs.

One injured in rollover crash south of Darlington

The Highway Patrol reports a rollover accident Tuesday afternoon in rural Gentry County which injured one person from Maryville. Taken by private vehicle, with moderate injuries, to Mosaic Medical Center in Albany was 41-year-old Christopher Swinford. Swinford was a passenger in a truck driven by 30-year-old Justin Viets of Stanberry who wasn’t hurt.

Two With Serious Injuries Near Galt

An accident in Grundy County left two with serious injuries. State Troopers report the single-vehicle accident that happened on Highway 6 near Galt at about 3:25 pm. Thirty-one-year-old Travis J Vasey of Trenton and his passenger, twenty-six-year-old Dakota W Dalton of Humphreys, were westbound and ran off the north side of the road, Vasey overcorrected and ran off the south side of the road and the vehicle struck an embankment, overturned, and struck several trees before coming to rest on its top. Vasey and Dalton were taken to Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton for treatment.

Livingston County COVID-19 vaccine tracker: 38% of people fully vaccinated

Some 38% of people living in Livingston County are fully vaccinated as of Sept. 14, according to data from the Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention considers someone fully vaccinated two weeks after they've been given a single-dose shot (Johnson & Johnson) or a second shot (either Pfizer or Moderna).

The Mercer County Health Department and GRM Networks will sponsor a free program on internet and phone safety. The Western Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force will present the program at the North Mercer gym on October 6, 2021, from 5:30 to 6:30 in the evening. Topics to be discussed include internet safety, photos on the cloud and phones, social media and phone etiquette, appropriate and inappropriate messages and images, and the law regarding inappropriate messaging and photos. The task force is also to go over apps for parents to use to help keep their children safe.

Hamilton man charged with murder has jury trial vacated in DeKalb County

An October jury trial has been vacated in DeKalb County for a Hamilton man charged with second-degree murder. The case for 37-year-old Frank Randall Allen Bostic was continued to November 8, 2021, for a plea or trial setting. Bostic has also been charged with felony first-degree domestic assault involving serious physical injury.
