Batavia man dead after getting stuck in stone bin at concrete facility

BATAVIA, N.Y. (WIVB) — Randy Ridd, 64, of Batavia, died Tuesday afternoon after getting stuck in a stone bin at a Batavia concrete facility. The Batavia Police Department says they received a call regarding the incident at Western NY Concrete at 638 E Main St. at the Genesee County Emergency Dispatch Center at 12:57 p.m. Tuesday.

BATAVIA — An Alabama woman has been sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison for stabbing a coworker in July 2020 in Elba. Colleen Nelson, 50, who pleaded guilty this July to first-degree attempted assault, a violent felony, in the stabbing of David Chase on July 29, 2020, at Oliver’s Candies, was also sentenced Wednesday by Genesee County Court Judge Charles Zambito to five years of post-release supervision.

Two Hornell residents charged in two-county pursuit

BATAVIA — Two Hornell residents are charged following a Thursday evening pursuit that began in Erie County and ended on East Main Street in Batavia. Troopers out of the New York State Police Newstead station charged the driver, Anthony T. Drake, 25, with first-degree reckless endangerment, a felony; fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and multiple traffic tickets. Brittany N. Howland, 27, the passenger, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and violation of probation.

Hornell residents arrested after police chase ends in Genesee County

GENESEE COUNTY, N.Y. (WETM) – Anthony Drake, 25, and Brittany Howard, 27, of Hornell were arrested Thursday after a police chase in Western New York. On September 2 at 6:42 p.m., State Police tried to make a vehicle and traffic stop on a Chevrolet Silverado at Crittenden Road and Main Street in Newstead.
