Susan Newton to be Inducted into the 2021 Garrett County Women’s Hall of Fame

Susan Newton is to be honored as an inductee into the 2021 Garrett County Women’s Hall of Fame as an outstanding role model for young women in Garrett County. In her youth, Newton inherited a love and compassion for animals. Further, she was a member of the local Future Farmers of America and 4-H organizations, along with a participant and volunteer for the Garrett County Agricultural Fair. Garrett County Health Department issues overdose alert

OAKLAND — The Garrett County Health Department issued an overdose alert Monday following an increase in overdoses related to opiates in the county. “While we are not certain what caused the spike at that time, the increase may be due to the presence of the powerful synthetic opioid drug fentanyl,” said Garrett County Health Officer Bob Stephens.
