Double-murder suspect acquitted in retrial leaving victim's family 'shocked'

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Moments after a 19-year-old Kalamazoo man was acquitted of murder charges, Betty Hudson burst into tears inside a Kalamazoo County courtroom Friday. Jurors acquitted Tikario Taylor-McMillion, 19, on four counts, including two counts of murder and weapons charges in the December 2020 shooting death of Floyd Brashers and Katoya McPherson.

I came across a post on a page that looks back at all the classic postcards that were once printed in Kalamazoo that gives a small glimpse into the past. One, in general, seemed to throw me off a little bit, and maybe I'm just not used to the verbiage but they were talking about Kalamazoo celebrating what they called a Silver Annie in 1909. Personally, it sounds like the name of a racehorse, but it made a little more sense when I looked it up:

Kalamazoo County hires new attorney as corporation counsel

KALAMAZOO, MI -- Nearly two years after the Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners fired its previous head attorney, the county has selected a new attorney to hire. On Tuesday, Sept. 20, the board of commissioners voted to approve a three-year employment agreement for Angelina Barnes, effective Oct. 11, as corporation counsel.
