More than $500 stolen from Robson Ranch woman in possible fraud, report says

A 75-year-old woman reported losing $573 after she got an email saying she sent money to someone she didn’t know, according to a police report. The Denton Police Department is investigating it as a theft of property. The woman, who lives in the 10000 block of Grandview Drive, told police on Sunday that on Thanksgiving she got an email saying she sent money to someone she didn’t know.

Restaurateur Tony Mehmedi grew up in the Chicago area, working any and every job in restaurants owned by his father, who immigrated from Albania. Mehmedi relocated to Texas and opened Frisco Star Café in 2016, when he was 19.

Wooden Poppy takes top prize

The Wooden Poppy Design Co. won the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce’s Scare on the Square Window Decoration contest. The contest was a part of the Chamber’s Halloween festivities downtown on Oct. 30. Storefronts were adorned with Halloween and other seasonal decorations and competed for the top prize. Wooden Poppy owners Jodi Perry and Trent Krahl do public workshops and private parties with tons of home decor designs to choose from, and they teach participants how to do the work themselves. Denton animal fosterers help nurture pets until forever home is found

Do you have a passion for helping animals, especially those most in need? Then you could be a good candidate to be a Denton animal foster care volunteer. The Linda McNatt Animal Care & Adoption Center currently has about 52 to 58 foster volunteers who provide a temporary home and nurture animals who have short-term medical needs. Fostering gives animals a chance to grow and become healthy enough to be adopted into a permanent family.
