Oxford man charged in Furnas County sex trafficking case takes plea deal

BEAVER CITY, Neb. — An Oxford man charged in connection to the ongoing Furnas County sex trafficking case has taken a plea deal. According to Furnas County District Court records, Brent Keslar, 40, pled no contest on June 14 to one count of committing negligent child abuse – no injury. In exchange for his plea, prosecutors reduced a charge of first-degree sexual assault to committing negligent child abuse – no injury.

Campbell man facing federal charges after pursuit

FUNAS COUNTY, Neb. — A Campbell man who authorities say had drugs and a loaded gun after a pursuit is now facing charges in federal court. Federal officials say Jeremy Kinney, 48, is charged with possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of meth mixture, possession of a firearm in planning of a drug trafficking crime, and felon in possession of a firearm.

Man sentenced to jail, probation on charge related to Furnas Co. sex trafficking case

BEAVER CITY, Neb. — A man has been sentenced to jail and probation on a charge related to the ongoing Furnas County sex trafficking case. Rowdy Baxter, 64, was sentenced Tuesday in Furnas County District Court to 90 days in jail and 5 years probation on one count of committing intentional child abuse negligently-no injury. He was given credit for 22 days served in jail.

Two Sentenced In Furnas County Sex Trafficking Case

Two individuals have been sentenced for their involvement in the ongoing Furnas County sex trafficking case. Twenty-Three-Year Old Landon Hoffman was sentenced Wednesday to five years probation and 90 days in jail on one count of committing child abuse negligently-no injury. Meanwhile, Thirty-Two-Year-Old Jacob Putnam was sentenced to 18 months probation and 30 days in jail on one count of committing child abuse negligently-no injury. In December 2021, Hoffman pleaded no contest to one count of committing child abuse negligently with no injuries and was found guilty. Then in March, Putnam pled no contest to one count of committing child abuse negligently with no injuries. In exchange for his plea, the charge was reduced from committing child abuse intentionally with no injuries. Affidavits in the cases have been sealed, but complaints say the cases involved a minor between the age of 12 and 16. The victim is the same one involved in the other Furnas County sex trafficking cases. At least 20 men have been charged in the ongoing sex trafficking case.

FURNAS COUNTY, Neb. — A Campbell man faces multiple charges after drugs and a loaded handgun were found in his vehicle following a pursuit in Furnas County last week. Jeremy Kinney, 48, is charged in Furnas County Court with possession of more than 140 grams of meth, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of a firearm while committing a felony, tampering with physical evidence, operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, possession of drug money, no drug tax stamp, willful reckless driving (second offense), possession of more than an ounce of marijuana and driving under suspension.

BEAVER CITY — The attorney for an Oxford man claimed his client was repeatedly pressured into having sex with the minor girl in a Furnas County sex trafficking case. Jacob Putnam, 32, of Oxford was sentenced on Wednesday in Furnas County District Court to 30 days in jail with approved work release for misdemeanor child abuse. He was found guilty in March.
