Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Fireworks may not be the only reason to keep an eye on the sky in Rochester this 4th of July. Meteorologists with the National Weather Service in La Crosse are predicting possibly strong thunderstorms could track across the Rochester area Monday morning. Another round of storms capable of producing hail, damaging winds and heavy rain could fire by the afternoon and evening.

Woman Accused of Ransacking Rochester Apartment, Killing Pet

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A woman was charged in Olmsted County Court Friday for allegedly breaking into a Rochester apartment and killing a pet that was inside. The criminal complaint states officers were dispatched to a residence on North Broadway Ave. around 10 p.m. on June 30. The resident reported she returned home and noticed someone had “clearly ransacked” her apartment.

Three Vehicle Crash in Lake City Sends Four People to Hospital

Lake City, MN (KROC-AM News) - A three-vehicle crash in Lake City sent four people to the hospital Friday evening. The State Patrol crash report indicates a Ford F-150 and a Ford Escape were traveling north on Hwy. 61 and a Jeep Cherokee was heading south. The vehicles collided on the north end of Lake City.

DNR Kicks off Operation Dry Water

St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News)-The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will be patrolling lakes and rivers across the state this weekend looking for impaired boaters. The agency’s “Operation Dry Water” started Saturday and runs through Monday. Officers anticipate the state’s waterways will be busier than usual for the Independence Day weekend and are reminding the public that boating while intoxicated is one of the leading causes of boating accidents and fatalities.

Austin, MN (KROC-AM News) - A tentative plea agreement has been worked out in an Austin murder case. A petition to plead guilty has been filed in Mower County Court in the case of Miguel Nunez. The court document indicates the 19-tear-old Sioux Falls South Dakota man has agreed to enter a guilty plea to a charge of second-degree murder charge without intent during a court hearing next week.

MnDOT Just Made Another Dumb Decision About a Rochester Highway

You've got to hand it to officials at the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT)-- they just made another boneheaded decision about a busy highway near Rochester. The intersections along the stretch of Highway 14 west of Rochester all the way to Byron have been the site of many dangerous crashes for quite a while. The intersection at CSAH 44 (formerly County Road 104) is particularly dangerous, as is the median crossing at 7th Street northwest.

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)-Rochester Police are investigating a shooting on the city’s north side. Officers responded to the Gates of Rochester apartment complex on 41st St. NW around 10 p.m. Thursday. Police say witnesses saw a subject pull out a handgun and fire three or four rounds at a vehicle. There were no reports of injuries as of Friday morning.
