Coffee Connection reopens at new location

OSWEGO — Coffee Connection has made the move from West Mohawk Street to West Second Street, located in the building that was formerly La Parrilla. The business was closed for about two weeks during the move, and is returning with extended hours, according to owner Tara Hoyt. Coffee Connection will now be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.

New York man cycling across America is bitten by dog in Illinois

CHICAGO - Bob Barnes, the man who is bicycling to all 50 U.S. state capitals in one year, had a face-off with an aggressive dog within days of reaching the state of Illinois. Barnes, 52, of Syracuse, N.Y., visited his capital no. 39, Springfield, on May 3. Along his cross-country journey, which began in summer of 2021, Barnes has had a few close calls and some dangerous experiences; his tent even caught fire amid his Michigan trip.

How Syracuse's Parks and Rec team is overcoming staffing gaps to keep summer fun

The city of Syracuse's Crawfish Festival is a celebration of the aforementioned crustacean. Vendors are also slinging shrimp, clams, beignets and gumbo. But at this year's celebration, the city didn’t have enough people to keep the trash bins from overflowing. So special events coordinator Britney Farmer stepped in. The Parks, Recreation and Youth Programs department employee took on an eight-hour shift pulling bag after bag of trash from the bins outside food stands.
