“I did it!” — U.S. Olympic gymnast Sunisa Lee, to her father after winning a gold medal for the all-around competition. Everyone Is Wrong About Vaccine Hesitancy

When Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott made himself the butt of 40% of recent Twitter jokes by refusing to say whether he'd been vaccinated against COVID-19, he could be forgiven for not understanding the Health Insurance Portability and Affordability Act (HIPAA) strictures on Protected Health Information (PHI). The whole thing is kind of the full employment act for employment lawyers, and the percentage of Americans who understand it surely doesn't hit the double digits.

Hugs & Shrugs

HUGS go to … Rudy Rodriguez and the family of Librada “Lily” Rose Cantú for reminding us of the lasting impression on our community Lily had in how she lived her short life, dedicated to serving those in need. Lily, 20, died in November 2010 after falling while serving children in need in Lima, Perú. Her family now is leading a campaign to have the playground at North Lakes Park named in her honor. Lily’s legacy of selfless service and dedication to a cause larger than ourselves is worthy of celebration, and we urge the city of Denton to grant the Cantús’ request.

Letters to the Editor - Three cheers for Dallas Aquatics, a DMN column, a carrier

1 Dallas Parks and Recreation Aquatics — I would like to commend the city of Dallas’ aquatics department on a wonderful experience at Lake Highlands aquatic center. I “borrowed” an 8-year-old from a friend and we enjoyed the crystal-clear waters of three pools: one for little ones, one for the two slides and a big multipurpose pool with a large shallow end for my friend who was learning to swim.

A game for the ages: Remembering Tom Walker’s 15-inning no-hit masterpiece 50 years later

Three hours after a teammate interrupted his pregame slumber, Tom Walker still wasn’t convinced he was awake. This had to be a dream. The Dallas-Fort Worth Spurs pitcher, working his 15th inning in a Texas League game at Albuquerque on Aug. 4, 1971, had yet to surrender a hit. If the zeroes on the scoreboard hadn’t confirmed the fact, Walker might have assumed he was still napping in the clubhouse, dreaming about the game of a lifetime.
