Semitruck on Airport Freeway hits guardrail, catches fire in Euless Saturday morning

A semitruck caught fire at the 200 block of Airport Freeway in Euless around 3 a.m. Saturday. The fire started after the truck hit a guardrail. It spread into its cargo containing empty, flattened boxes, Euless Assistant Fire Chief Chanc Bennett said. No serious injuries or deaths were reported and no other trucks were involved in the crash.

Plane Makes Belly Landing in Hillsboro

A pilot from Texas was able to walk away after he was forced to make a rough landing at a small airport in Central Kansas. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 69-year-old Perry Proffitt from Keller, Texas, was flying a 1964 Beechcraft single-engine fixed wing aircraft. The agency says as he was landing at Hillsboro Municipal Airport when the landing gear failed. The aircraft landed on its belly.

Man Dies After Motorcycle Crash in Grand Prairie

The Grand Prairie Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred Wednesday afternoon in the 8100 block of Lake Ridge Parkway killing a motorcycle rider. At approximately 5:45 p.m., a Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling south on Lake Ridge when the operator lost control and struck a guardrail.

Royse City ISD mourns loss of cherished crossing guard fatally struck by vehicle

Royse City ISD is mourning the death of an employee who was fatally struck by a car this week while she was working as a crossing guard. The Fate Department of Public Safety said a motorist hit the crossing guard — identified by the district as Melissa Williams — around 7:30 a.m. Monday near Miss May Vernon Elementary School in the 100 block of Miss May Drive. The school is in Fate but is part of Royse City ISD.
