Frisco Names New City Manager; Wes Pierson to Start in New Role August 2

(May 23, 2022) Following a nationwide search, the City of Frisco names Wes Pierson as its new city manager. Pierson has more than 13 years of city management experience, including nearly 7 years as city manager in the Town of Addison where he currently serves. Pierson also served the cities of Corpus Christi and Allen. Pierson will follow George Purefoy, the city’s first city manager, who is retiring after more than 34 years of service.

Frisco Police Arrest Former FISD Employee on Obscenity-Related Charge

(May 19, 2022) The Frisco Police Department has arrested former Frisco Independent School District employee Ruben Bustillos, a 60-year-old male of Frisco. Bustillos was arrested for Sale, Distribution, or Display of Harmful Material to Minor, which is a Class A misdemeanor. Police were made aware of the offense after inappropriate images were located at an FISD elementary school. Working in conjunction with Frisco ISD, a criminal investigation was conducted, which subsequently led to the arrest of Bustillos.

Traffic Switch on Town & Country Blvd starting Monday, May 16

(May 13, 2022) As part of the city’s Legacy Drive widening project, traffic patterns will be modified on Town & Country Boulevard between Spring Creek Parkway and Legacy Drive beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 16. The eastbound and westbound traffic currently using the two-lane section of Town & Country Boulevard will be switched to the new two-lanes of pavement built to the south. See the map (PDF). This will allow the contractor to reconstruct the existing pavement.

Governor Abbott Announces Ruiz Foods Regional Headquarters in Frisco

(May 12, 2022) Governor Greg Abbott today announced that Ruiz Food Products, Inc. ("Ruiz Foods") will establish a regional headquarters in Frisco, Texas. Founded in 1964, Ruiz Foods is America’s largest frozen Mexican food manufacturer. This centrally located regional headquarters in North Texas will bring at least 125 jobs to the area by 2026.

Coleman Blvd and Simpson Plaza Closed Saturday, April 30, for Special Event

(April 29, 2022) Coleman Boulevard, which is the main entrance to Frisco Square and the Frisco Public Library, will be closed Saturday, April 30, for a special event. Simpson Plaza will also be closed, so there will be no vehicular access to the front of the library. Instead, library patrons will be able to access the free municipal parking garage behind the George A. Purefoy Municipal Center. In addition, the parking spaces around Simpson Plaza will be blocked off on Friday. City Hall and Frisco Public Library visitors will need to use the municipal parking garage on Friday.

Frisco Police Seek Assistance Identifying Cold Case Robbery Suspect

FRISCO, TX – Frisco Police are seeking assistance in identifying a suspect who was involved in the November 2020 aggravated robbery of a Frisco resident. Around 7:50 PM on Monday, November 2, 2020, officers responded to the 7000-block of Brookview Dr. in reference to a robbery. Officers met with the victim, a homeowner in her sixties. She told the officer she came home and was confronted inside her residence by an unknown man with a gun. This unknown man held her at gunpoint while demanding multiple items. He then fled the location in a vehicle driven by another individual. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect(s).

Governor Abbott Announces Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association Corporate Center in Frisco

(April 27, 2022) Governor Greg Abbott today announced that the Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association (TIAA) will establish a new corporate center in Frisco, Texas. TIAA is a leading provider of secure retirements and outcome-focused investment solutions. The project will create 2,000 new jobs and nearly $58 million in capital investment. A Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF) grant of $18,000,000 has been extended to TIAA. In addition to the Texas Enterprise Fund Award, TIAA is being offered a $19,000 Veteran Created Job Bonus.

CR 68 Closed Saturday Morning, April 23

(April 22, 2022) County Road 68 (CR 68) will be closed between Coit Rd and Independence Pkwy between 8 - 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, so trash can be collected from the sides of the road. During this closure, drivers can use Rolater Rd or SH 121 as alternate routes. Detour signs will be posted.
