CEYLON MAN FACING CHARGES AFTER SLEEPY EYE CRASH

A Ceylon man faces several charges after he was involved in a crash in Sleepy Eye Friday. Kenneth Sanz faces two gross misdemeanor third-degree DWI charges and misdemeanor proof of insurance and open bottle charges. Authorities say they had received a report of a small black car in the ditch near the Sleepy Eye Golf Club. A couple of minutes later, a crash occurred. Authorities say Sanz rear-ended a vehicle, then tried to back up and hit a semi. Police say they found a half-empty vodka bottle in the car and there was no insurance on the car. Sanz admitted to having four vodka drinks and a preliminary breath test registered a point-248 alcohol content. Sanz was arrested for DUI. He was taken to detox in new Ulm with no hold on him. He is set to appear in court July 19 at 8:30 am.
