13 wind turbines coming to Franklin County after board approval

FRANKLIN — Up to 100 wind turbines soon will be installed in Franklin and Webster counties. The Little Blue Wind Project is being developed and permitted by a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources LLC. Thirteen of the turbines will be in northeast Franklin County. The project’s final application for a conditional use permit in Franklin County was approved recently by the Franklin County Board of Supervisors.

Morning fire destroys vacant home in Upland

UPLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - A house that has sat empty for a couple of years was destroyed in an early morning fire in Upland in Franklin County. The call came in around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday to the Upland Volunteer Fire Department, who called for mutual aid from fire departments in Minden, Hildreth, Franklin and Wilcox. There were flames and smoke visible when firefighters arrived within five minutes of the call.

Former Ohio police officer indicted in shooting death of Andre Hill

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Franklin County grand jury has indicted former Columbus police officer Adam Coy for the death of Andre Hill. Coy, who was fired from the police division after fatally shooting 47-year-old Hill on Columbus' Northwest Side, is charged with one count of murder, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost announced Wednesday night in a virtual press conference. Coy also is facing a county of felonious assault and two counts of dereliction of duty — one for failing to turn on his body camera when he responded to the scene, and another for failing to inform his fellow officer that he felt Hill presented a danger.
