League realignment leaves championship up for grabs

League overview: The shifting of leagues for this athletic cycle meshes together a bit of the Arkansas Valley League with the Southern League. This new group features just two teams that advanced to the 8-Man playoffs in 2021. Crowley County and Fowler will try to get back to the postseason while Hoehne looks to rebound from a tough year following their Season C state championship win in the spring of 2021.

As students return to school, how will teacher shortages affect their education?

It’s been two years since the initial lockdowns of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Since then, going to school for kids has been unique and challenging. Daily, students didn’t know if class would be in person or virtual, masks were mandatory until they slowly weren’t, and the emphasis on social distancing and protocols fluctuated. However, one of the most significant pandemic-induced issues was the creation of unprecedented staff shortages across the state, especially in rural areas like Otero County and Bent County.
