She was born in Monroe County on May 27, 1939, a daughter of the late Jessie and Della (Emmert) Stewart. Ruth was a housekeeper, and babysitter and enjoyed canning and gardening. She was a member of Beech Grove #2 Missionary Baptist Church.

The report of a small child playing in a roadway has led to the arrest of three people in Glasgow on drug and other charges. On Monday, the Glasgow Police Department responded to Bryan Street on a report of a child playing in the road. Upon arriving, officers made contact with the child and located where the child lived, according to police. Officers also confirmed the child’s father, Drew Sims, 27, had warrants for his arrest.
