Irving Gets 2021 Road To The Future Progress Report On Road Maintenance Projects

Members of City Council's Transportation and Natural Resources Committee heard an update on Sept. 2 from the Traffic and Transportation Department, Street Division, regarding the annual Summer Asphalt Overlay Program, as part of the Road to the Future program that started in 2017. Currently, Irving has approximately 798 centerline miles of roadway in the city. This is similar to a two-lane road from Irving to Nashville, Tennessee. The results shown below illustrate the positive impact this program is accomplishing to address the roadway maintenance needs of the city.

Town closes lanes on Morriss Road

The town of Flower Mound conducted a traffic switch Monday on Morriss Road. To allow for work on the Morriss Road Water Lines Phase II project, the two regular southbound lanes of Morriss Road will be closed between Timber Creek Trail and Eaton Street, according to a news release from the town of Flower Mound. Morriss Road southbound traffic will be diverted to the east side of the median, where the two normal northbound lanes will function as two-way traffic. Detours will be set up on adjacent streets as required due to the closure.

DESOTO – A section of Illinois 149/Hurst Road in Desoto will be closed starting next week for railroad crossing repairs. According to IDOT, starting Monday morning at 8, crews from the Canadian National Railway will be performing repairs on the railroad crossing near the US 51/North Chestnut and Illinois 149/Hurst Road intersection in Desoto. As west Fort Worth prepares to boom, traffic planners try to keep up

Where I-30 and I-20 meet in west Fort Worth, there is an oasis of country life away from the city. But even Walsh Ranch residents can’t escape the traffic of the Metroplex. Savannah Crawford is a University of North Texas student who works in the Walsh Ranch development at the Village Market at 13801 Walsh Ave. In her job, she talks with a lot of residents who come into the store. Some of those conversations include people upset about traffic congestion and the prospect of more development, she said.

Keller Hicks off-ramp from southbound I-35W to close

On Wednesday, Sept. 15, at 9 p.m., a long-term closure will be in place along I-35W in far north Fort Worth. The off-ramp from southbound I-35W to Keller Hicks Road will be closed. Traffic will be redirected to a temporary ramp at Golden Triangle Boulevard. The closure is expected to be in place through spring 2022.
