On June 26 about 5:58 a.m., the Millington Police Department responded to a possible dead on arrival call at Highway 51 and West Union Road. Upon the officer’s arrival a white female 34 years of age was discovered on the side of the road in a kneeled down, leaning forward position. And it was determined the woman was deceased.

Dry Run: Flag City Freedom Celebration set for tonight at 6

Last year’s Flag City Freedom Celebration was the first held at the Millington Sports Complex. And the attendance was modest with rain damping the 2021 event. With better conditions in the forecast for the 2022 Flag City Freedom Celebration, it will be held this Thursday starting at 6 p.m. at the Millington Sports Complex, located at 4885 Bill Knight Road. This event is only possible through support from the community leaders and local businesses. There will be food trucks and entertainment with the firework display around 9 p.m. It is $5 a vehicle for parking and for more information, call 873-5770.

Progress being made on Osceola revitalization project

OSCEOLA, Ark. (KAIT) - The future looks bright for Osceola, as the city will be introducing new restaurants, coffee shops, and a rooftop bar for newcomers. Investor Phil Baratelli committed to revitalizing the downtown district and former country club. The yearlong project has now turned into a reality for Baratelli, but he said the buildings needed some work.

The last two weeks of The Genuine Article’s annual look back at the previously concluded TSSAA calendar is dedicated to the Who’s Who. I got a chance to recognize a total of 24 graduates from my coverage area of Tipton-Rosemark Academy, Munford High School, Millington Central High School and Brighton High School. The first week has six superlatives and next week the final 12 student/athletes will have the spotlight.
