Florida man calmly hits golf shot despite alligator walking up behind him

There’s quite a history of alligators on golf courses, from gators at PGA Tour events to gators wandering through lower-profile tournaments and fighting each other to media personalities’ interactions with gators. But for Florida man Michael West, a gator approaching wasn’t enough to get him to hold off on taking a shot. This week, West’s wife Michelle Walsh posted video to Facebook of a gator wandering up behind West while he was taking a shot at the Heritage Landing Golf & Country Club in Punta Gorda, Florida. Here’s video of that:

July 1 (UPI) -- An alligator was caught on camera approaching a group of golfers on a Florida course while a member of the party nonchalantly took his shot. A video posted to Facebook by Melissa Walsh shows her husband, Michael West, lining up and taking his shot at the Heritage Landing Golf & Country Club in Punta Gorda while ignoring the alligator approaching him from the rear.

Drug sting nets 54 arrests in Punta Gorda

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - More than 50 people have been arrested in a six-month drug sting operation in Punta Gorda, authorities said. The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office’s narcotics unit conducted “Operation Poisonous Fruit,” resulting in the arrest of 54 people suspected of selling and delivering fentanyl or methamphetamine.

Human remains found inside missing Florida woman’s car

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (TCD) -- Human remains were discovered inside a 45-year-old missing woman’s vehicle. According to a press release from the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, Wendy Hanleck was last seen on June 21 at her home on Arnold Avenue. The Sheriff’s Office asked for the public’s help in finding her and described that she drives a 2015 silver Chevy Spark.
