Aiken County officials investigate double homicide at Days Inn

AIKEN, S.C. (WFXG) - An investigation is underway after two men were found dead with gunshot wounds inside a Days Inn. According to the Aiken County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to shots fired Saturday night around 11 p.m. at the Days Inn on 2654 Columbia Highway N. When officials got there, they found two men, 39-year-old Barry Redding and a 40-year-old, with gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead on scene. The Coroner's Office says the 40-year-old man has been identified, but the name will not be released until next of kin has been notified. Autopsies are scheduled for Wednesday in Newberry.

Women in Business: Chamber of Commerce celebrates professionals

The Aiken Chamber of Commerce hosted a sold-out Women in Business Luncheon at Newberry Hall in downtown Aiken on June 7. The Chamber hosts two such events each year. Aiken Regional Medical Centers was the primary sponsor. Dr. Deidre Martin was the keynote speaker. In 2015 she retired from USCA after 28 years of service and currently is the Chief Advancement Officer for Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Georgia.
