Police investigate early-morning shooting in Roanoke Rapids

ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. (WNCN) — Roanoke Rapids police are working to learn who shot a man early Sunday morning. Reports say they were called to the scene on the 1200 block of Julian Allsbrook Highway at about 1:45 a.m. in reference to shots fired outside of a KLIX internet café.

Roanoke Rapids Police looking for suspect in Saturday shooting

ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. (WNCN) — Investigators with the Roanoke Rapids Police Department are looking for the person they say shot a man early Saturday morning. At about 2:42 a.m., Officer C. Majette was called to a home on the 100 block of Hamilton St. in reference to a person being shot, according to a release.

James Cloud “Cloudy Bill” Lucy, age 84, of Emporia, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2022. Born and raised in Freeman, he was the son of the late John James and Ruby Daniel Lucy. He was also preceded in death by a brother, David Anderson Lucy, and a sister, Shirley Lucy Trent. Mr. Lucy retired after more than 30 years at Rochester Button Company. He enjoyed dancing, fishing, socializing, meeting new friends, and telling stories. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren who were his pride and joy. He is survived by his daughters, Sharon Lucy Sheldon and husband, Steve, and Jennifer Lucy Moody and husband, Dwayne; grandchildren, Whitney Davis (Michael), Morgan Best, James Russell Moody, and Jackson Moody; a great-grandson, Alden Davis.
