A two-county high speed chase came to an end Friday afternoon in Jim Thorpe. The incident began in Tamaqua around 3 p.m. when police were notified of a suspected intoxicated woman operating a Chevrolet Malibu. The chase began on Route 309 South when the woman turned onto Owl Creek Road.

Allen’s Martin lands with Atlanta Hawks after selection in NBA Draft’s 2nd round

Tyrese Martin’s NBA opportunity has arrived. The Allen High School product was the 51st overall selection on Thursday night in the NBA Draft and landed with the Atlanta Hawks. The 51st pick belonged to the Golden State Warriors, the reigning NBA champions, but was controlled by Atlanta in exchange for the 44th pick (Toledo’s Ryan Rollins) and $2 million, according to ESPN reporter Adrian Wojnarowski.
