Moundville Police investigating Saturday shooting at birthday party

Moundville Police are investigating after a shooting at a birthday party on Saturday left one person in critical condition and at least four cars riddled with bullet holes. As first reported in the Moundville Times, the incident happened on Mink Slide Road, just inside Hale County, where Moundville Police Chief Toby Banks said more than 100 people were gathered.

Faunsdale Music Festival rescheduled for Saturday

The Faunsdale Music Festival that was postponed after the area sustained major damage from a March 30 tornado has been rescheduled for this Saturday. Faunsdale Bar & Grill owners announced the music festival will be held from 12 to 5 p.m. Saturday, six weeks after it was originally scheduled on April 2. The restaurant was destroyed and community was damaged by a tornado on March 30.

Shooting in West Alabama Town Prompts Shelter-in-Place

Some Marengo County residents are being asked to shelter-in-place until further notice following a shooting in the area. According to a Facebook post shared shortly after 8 p.m. by the 17th Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force, the multi-county unit is assisting the Demopolis Police Department after a shooting that took place earlier Thursday evening.

Donors called for LifeSouth blood drive May 27

LifeSouth will be accepting donations of blood in Demopolis on Friday, May 27, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Demopolis Civic Center. Donors must be at least 16 years of age and weigh no less than 110 pounds. Anyone who is 16 must have a parental okay to give blood.

More than 100 employers will be on hand to accept applications from job-seekers Thursday, May 19, at the Robert H. Young Community Center, 527 Greensboro Ave., Eutaw. DHS Class of 1959 celebrates 63rd reunion

The Demopolis High School Class of 1959 celebrated their 63rd year reunion April 29 and 30, with a fun weekend of visiting and renewing old friendships. They began with a very nice welcome party Friday night at the impressive Marengo County History & Archive Museum which is located in the old Merchants Grocery/Rosenbush Building. Rusty Goldsmith, who is presently serving as Interim Rector of Trinity Episcopal Church, was a special guest for the Friday night event. Saturday activities included a casual, all-day get together at the Spillway Falls Park Pavilion then dinner at the Red Barn. They had a great turnout with 16 classmates attending.
