The theme for tonight’s First Fridays on Main Street event is Read, White, and Blue. There will be a book swap for all ages as well as entertainment from the Tri-Tones and the 1270’s. The national anthem will be sung live followed by a flag presentation from the Mitchell National Guard at 6:15 PM. At 7 PM, there will be a watermelon eating contest. Other activities include a train ride and an inflatable corn maze, as well as other kids’ activities. Several food trucks with many options will also be on hand.

MITCHELL – After holding a lead for much of the game, Huron’s 13U team saw Mitchell explode with a six-run bottom of the seventh inning to take the lead. Then after a Huron comeback tied the game in the top of the ninth, Mitchell scored the winning run in the bottom of the inning to walk off with a 10-9 victory Thursday afternoon at Cadwell Park in Mitchell.

HURON – After a heartbreaking extra-inning loss in the first game, the Huron Junior Legion couldn’t get the bats going until it was too late in the finale of the doubleheader Thursday, dropping two games to the Aberdeen Smittys 16U club by the scores of 8-7 and 6-2 at Memorial Stadium.
