1 killed, 3 injured in Ford County crash

DODGE CITY, Kan. (KWCH) - One person died and three other people suffered serious injuries Monday evening in a crash in Ford County. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol’s online crash log, a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 was southbound on 210 Road while a 2013 Ford Explore was heading northbound on the same road. The Dodge Ram went left of center for an unknown reason. Both the truck and the SUV tried to avoid one another, but in the same direction and, collided head on.

FIRE ON BRIER STREET INVESTIGATION UPDATE

Dodge City Fire Department Chief Ken Spencer said the April 21 structure fire at Santa Fe Townhomes was accidental and may have been electrical in nature. Six units located on Brier Street and Avenue K were destroyed by the fire that raged for about four hours before emergency responders from the Dodge City Fire Department and Ford County Fire and EMS extinguished it.

Work is underway on U.S. 50/400 four-lane expansion

After years of planning and false starts, the much-anticipated four-lane expansion of Highway U.S./400 from Cimarron to Dodge City is officially underway. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has executed a strategic and operational shift in its response to COVID-19, now calling it an “endemic” instead of a “pandemic.” “This is a good sign,” Ford County Health Department Administrator Angela Sowers told the Ford County Commission at its April 18 meeting.
