Ree Drummond is swapping out her cooking chops for a home design project. The Food Network star and her sister Betsy — who lives in Seattle — decided to buy a house together in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, and renovate it. Of course, the newly modeled home gives a nod to their sibling bond and is appropriately called "Sister House."

NEWKIRK — Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 28 for the Kay County Commissioner District No. 3, State and Federal Offices Elections. Election Board Secretary Carol Leaming, offers the following tips to voters- especially those who will be casting a ballot for the first time.

The City of Arkansas City will shift to a four-day sanitation schedule next week due to the closure of all City offices Monday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day. The Cowley County Landfill will be closed Monday July 4th for Independence Day. The F Street Limb Disposal and Compost Site will be open Saturday, July 2nd and will be closed Monday, July 4th.

An advocate from Family Life Center Safehouse will be making weekly stops in Elk and Chautauqua Counties. The center is based in El Dorado, KS and its mission is to encourage, enlighten and empower individuals affected by domestic and sexual violence and help mitigate trauma by proving unbiased, comprehensive survivor services.

“Pioneer Woman” star Ree Drummond is reportedly teaming up with her sister Betsy on an awesome new project. In a recent blog post, Ree Drummond revealed that she and her sister Betsy have decided to purchase a house together in Pawhuska, Oklahoma with a mission to revote it. The newly purchased him is called “Sister House.”

In the wake of the school shooting that took place in Uvalde, Texas, parents have came up to Pawhuska School Board Member Thomas Boone wanting reassurance that students are safe. He is confident in telling them that the school is safe, but Superintendent David Cash says there is a strong police presence on campus, but the biggest struggle is the layout of the campus.

January 30, 1938 ~ June 23, 2022 (age 84) Mary Benedicta Littlewalker Butler,84, passed away June 23, 2022, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mary was the daughter of Newman Littlewalker, Sr, and his wife Clara Mehojah on January 30, 1938, in Kaw City, Oklahoma. As a child she took piano lessons for five years from Mrs. Julia Hunt and used this talent both in school and locally at church services. She attended Washunga school until the 5th grade and moved to Kaw City School where she graduated in May 1955. Mary went on to attend Ponca City Business College, completing the secretarial course in 1956. She held employment with The Bureau of Mines in Bartlesville, Chilocco Indian School, and Geological Survey in Tulsa. Later in 1976 she was employed with Cities Service Co. (later OXY USA) in Human Resources and retired in 1989.

V. Maxine Bahm, 92 years old, of rural Kaw City, Oklahoma, went to join the Lord and her husband, Bob, in heaven on July 23, 2022. A Rosary Ceremony will be held at 6:00 PM, Sunday, June 26, 2022, at Trout Funeral Home Chapel. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, June 27, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with Father Carson Krittenbrink officiating. NEWKIRK — Crews are pouring concrete today on Pecan Road between Dry and Canteen Roads. The road has been closed since a section reportedly buckled from the heat earlier this week. Kay County Commissioner Jason Shanks said he hopes to reopen the road Monday at noon.

Some people in Pawhuska are without water because of a water main break on the north side of town. The city said workers are repairing the line near Williams Park, but until it's fixed, some residents may have low or no water pressure. There is no word on when water...

Body Garry Duane Warren Canaday had his last dance on June 16, 2022. He was 78 years old. Garry was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma on October 27, 1943 Lawrence Duane Canaday and Elda Emma Bagg Canaday. He was raised on a farm north of Pawnee, Oklahoma. He joined the Army August 4, 1961 shortly before his senior year. He got his GED in January 1962 at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina which he was proud to get. He was sent to Wertheim, Germany in June 1962 and spent 27 months making the rank of Sergeant E-5. He received an honorable discharge in July 1964 and moved to Kaw City, Oklahoma. Garry was a Ponca City Fireman from March 1, 1967 to January 1, 1983. He drove a cement mixer for many companies and was involved in other jobs for many years until his full retirement in 2000. He met his match and was blessed with his true love of his life Pearl Ann Bowhay Richards. They married on June 12, 2004. They celebrated 18 wonderful years together. Garry was an avid sports fan and loved all OU Sports, New York Yankees and Green Bay Packers.

V. Maxine Bahm, 92 year old of rural Kaw City, Oklahoma. Went to join the Lord and her husband, Bob in heaven on July 23, 2022. Maxine was born at home in rural Berwyn, Oklahoma on February 9 1930. Maxine was the fourth child of eleven born to CC Jones and Lottie Mae Cullens Jones. She graduated from Lone Grove High School in 1948. Went to college at University of Central Oklahoma which is where she met her husband, Bob of 71 years of marriage which began November 5th, 1949.

The Pawhuska Water Department will shut down Kihekah Ave. from Main Street to 6th Street beginning Saturday evening and will remain closed until repairs are made by next Tuesday. This is being done in an effort make water and sewer repairs. A post on the City of Pawhuska Facebook Page...
