Plainview police searching for suspect in armed robbery at Dollar General

PLAINVIEW, Texas (KCBD) - Plainview police are asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect accused of an armed robbery at a Dollar General Monday morning. Around 9 a.m., officers responded to the robbery at the store located at 1713 W. 5th Street. An employee told police the suspect picked up some deodorant then approached the counter wearing a mask. The employee stated the suspect displayed a handgun and demanded money and three packs of cigarettes before walking out of the store.

Parade, milk fest, fireworks show to be held Saturday in Plainview

Plainview and Hale County are gearing up for an annual celebration of dairy and freedom Saturday, July 2. The day kicks off with the Red, White and Moo Freedom Parade down Ash Street at 10 a.m. The parade will step off at 11th and Ash, moving south to Broadway Park. A "best decorated" and "people's choice" prize will be given to the top parade floats, and viewers will be able to vote on their favorites on the Red, White and Moo Facebook page.

Art Museum to host Play-A-Palooza

The Contemporary Art Museum of Plainview will host Play-a-Palooza | The Art of Having Fun this weekend. The event is set for 7-10 p.m. Saturday at the museum, 219 E. 6 th St. There will be a playland with games for the whole family. There will be games including Giant Pandemic Loteria and Ping-Pong. Plainview Middle School students created 100 ping-pong paddles, which will be on display for the event. Those interested will also have a chance to play ping-pong. The Loteria game was created by Rafael Gonzales of San Antonio. The museum will be open through the month for Family Fun Days Friday through Sunday from 1-5 p.m.

Owl’s Café Appreciation Party set for Friday

The Owls Café in Hale Center has officially closed after 17 years in business. A come-and-go Appreciation Party is set for Friday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Lemond Center, 110 E. Stevenson in Hale Center. The restaurant’s closure was announced in mid-May. The event on Friday is meant to show appreciation for its many years of serving Hale Center. It’s open to the community.
