Floyd County Drug Bust

Two women are facing charges following a tip Friday night in Floyd County. Deputies from the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office say they were following up on a report on the whereabouts of a fugitive at a home in Hueysville. When they arrived at the scene, they found 44 year old Myrtle Little and 42 year old Elsie Cecil along with baggies containing more than 40 grams of suspected meth, prescription pills, hallucinogenic mushrooms, drug paraphernalia and hundreds of dollars in cash. Both were taken into custody and are charged with multiple counts of drug trafficking. They were taken to the Floyd County Jail.

Floyd County Native Named Food Network’s “Best Baker In America”

Congratulations are in order for a Floyd County native who has won the title of “Best Baker in America.” The honor bestowed by the Food Network goes to Prestonsburg native Jaclyn “Jackie” Joseph. Her local supporters gathered at the Mountain Arts Center Monday to watch the finale of the baking competition show as she built a two-foot tall Hawaiian-inspired dessert. It was the recipe for success, locking Joseph in as the Season Four champion of “Best Baker in America.” She also wins $25,000. Joseph says she plans to start her own bakery specializing in wedding cakes and other desserts.

$10,000 Reward Being Offered in Floyd County Missing Woman Case

There is now a $10,000 reward for information leading to the discovery of a Floyd County woman not seen since June 1. The family of Kandi Green Gonzalez says they just want her home and they need volunteer searchers to help them. Her mom, Betty Dixon, says while there are rumors about what may have happened, she wants to remind the community that her daughter is a mom, sister, and someone’s daughter. Gonzalez is described as 5′8″ tall, 110 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes. She was last seen on Abbott Creek Road in Prestonsburg on June 1. She was wearing a pink one-piece romper outfit.

Two Arrested on Drug Charges in Floyd County

Two people have been arrested in Floyd County on drug charges thanks to anonymous tips from the community. The Floyd County Sheriff’s Department says officers responded to complaints of possible drug trafficking in Prestonsburg. Deputies found and arrested fugitive Joseph Phillip of Prestonsburg. They say they confiscated 9 grams of suspected methamphetamine, digital scales, and several loaded syringes at the time of his arrest. 43-year-old Anna Conley of Prestonsburg was also arrested and is facing drug charges.
