Four years later, Rome man charged with making several meth sales in 2017

A Rome man is being held without bond after he was arrested on warrants stating he'd sold methamphetamine to an informant several times in 2017, reports stated. Brandon Rashard Thomas, 39, was arrested at his home on Wednesday accused of selling meth at four locations between July 18 and 21. Thomas is charged with four counts of felony sale of methamphetamine as well as possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute.

Work on updated historic survey for the Between the Rivers district underway

Over a year after the Rome received a $12,000 grant from the state, work on an updated survey of the city’s Between the Rivers historic district got underway this week. Brittany Griffin is the Rome Floyd County Planning Department liaison to the Historic Preservation Commission. She said they’ll work to get an updated history of the evolution of Broad Street from 1950-1970 as part of the survey.

Teen missing in north Georgia near local creek

FLOYD COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities in north Georgia are asking for the public's help finding a missing 13-year-old child not seen since Monday afternoon near a local waterway. Floyd County Police said that 13-year-old Erika Hope Touchstone went missing from the area of Armuchee Creek around 2 p.m. and may have run away. Touchstone is described as having brown hair and blue eyes. She is about 5 feet 5 inches tall and 120 pounds.

Quilt to be raffled for children's department at library

The Friends of the Library is raffling a quilt, “Whirligigs for Kids,” made by the members of the Lavender Mountain Quilt Guild. All money raised by the raffle will be donated to the Children’s Department of the Rome/Floyd County Library. The quilt is on display at the library until the drawing on July 15.

Recommending TRED walks

The recent Saturday “Walk and Talk” led by TRED (Trails for Recreation and Economic Development) was invigorating and very interesting. It was a perfect morning for a walk along the rivers downtown and provided the opportunity not only to exercise and learn, but to see friends we’ve not seen in a while due to COVID.
